Q:Most of other computer training providers only offer Photoshop and Illustrator courses but not the Indesign course. Is InDesign important in the design work?
A: Graphic design is mainly comprised of 3 parts: graphic illustration, photo processing and desktop publishing. The former 2 parts can be well-managed by Illustrator and Photoshop. However, InDesign must be used to handle word processing and multi pages script/document eg. Product Catalog, Corporate Newsletter, Product Description/User Guide and Electronic Document. Nevertheless, InDesign is much better than Illustrator whatever on the flexiblity or features of the application on desktop publishing though some Designers may comment that Illustrator is barely enough to support the application of word processing and multi pages document.
Q:Should I use Photoshop to produce a newsletter for my company?
A: Photoshop is a commonly used software on managing graphic/photo, but it is not appropriate for newsletter production or making promotion brochure. The proper tools for such kind of work are the Illustrator (if the document is single page or contains little text), or InDesign (if the document is multi pages and contains lots of text). Because they perform better on design and word processing/desktop publishing respectively. Moreover, they can produce relatively a fine artwork for the document.
Q:Can InDesign CS be applied on formal business document other than used on the graphic design?
A: Yes. The trend is towards to the application of InDesign on business document as InDesign CS incorporates the features of MS Word and Illustrator. Apart from the graphic design function, it also has the strong capability of word processing whereas MS Word is weak in graphic design and desktop publishing. Indeed, MS Word is not desiged for such application. If you want to add-in some graphic illustrations on the document, you may consider to apply InDesign to make the document beyond expectation.
Q:If I want to learn how to build a wensite, should I take a comprehensive diploma course or just a single module, for example Dreamweaver?
A: To build a website, you may need several kinds of software and techniques while Dreamweaver is only one of the basic tools. It cannot provide comprehensive functions to create or edit movies, animated GIFs or photos. Hence, we recommend that participants should take a diploma course if you want to advance your knowledge or career in website development.
