  • Applying Subdivision surface and Patch modeling techniques to create characters.
  • Texture mapping a character with Unwrap UVW.
  • Setting up Bones and IK chain for a character.
  • Using sliders to control the motion of a character with parameters wiring.
  • Creating skeleton deformation with Skin.
  • Creating soft body dynamics with Flex.
  • Creating facial expressions and lipsyn with morphing.
  • Automating animation process with Controllers, Constraints and Expressions, reducing the need to set keyframes manually:
  • linking an object to another over a period of time, such as a character’s hand picking up a baseball bat;
  • constraining an object along a surface;
  • A light can be turned on as an object is near a given point;
  • A ball can automatically squash as the ball's Z position near the ground plane;
  • Feet can rotate as the heel are lifted from the ground;
  • A particles system can be trigger by any given event.
  • Compositing 3D elements with live action footages using Camera Match and Multi-pass rendering: matching camera angle, perspective and lighting to background image and casting shadow onto it. Fine tuning material properties at post processing stage without re-rendering of the scene by rendering in layers.
